Questions and Answers:

Q: How visible are the incision scars from common procedures such as liposuction, breast enhancement, or eye surgery?

A: Scars are often visible, but are usually relatively minimal. Scars vary depending on:

  • The magnitude of the surgical procedure
  • An individual's ethnicity
  • Post-procedure scar maintenance

However, post-procedure satisfaction and proper treatment help manage any concerns regarding scarring. For those who wish to further minimize the appearance of their scar, we offer both Biocorneum® and Embrace® to assist in the scar healing process. You can learn more about them in our Patient Resources section, under Products.

Q: I have heard that some patients encounter rippling of their fat after liposuction surgery. Does this affect everyone? How can you reduce the chance of rippling?

A: Rippling is usually seen when fat is aggressively extracted over a large bodily area. At Premiere we reduce the chances of rippling by extracting a predetermined amount of fat cells to reshape the body while maintaining the skin’s natural elasticity. For the best results, we recommend that you wear compression garments following your surgery (with Marena® being our favorite brand) in order to help maintain your body's new shape.

Q: Liposuction generally promises permanent results as long as there is no weight gain. Does that include pregnancy?

A: It is always best to wait until you are done with having children before having liposuction. Most people gain weight after pregnancy and have difficulty losing post-baby weight. Due to this, women usually see bulges, which is the effect of weight gain, in unusual areas of their bodies. If liposuction is performed before a pregnancy, the treated areas will gain fat less rapidly than the untreated areas, resulting in dissatisfaction with liposuction results.

Q: Is there pain or discomfort during surgery? Are there other options besides general anesthesia that will equally eliminate any discomfort?

A: If pain is anticipated by the surgeon, you will be asleep under general anesthesia to minimize discomfort. If the treated area is very small, lighter forms of anesthesia such as local anesthesia may be used. Your absolute comfort and safety is our priority. As part of your recovery treatment, you will usually be given oral antibiotics and medication to ease pain and reduce chances of infection.

Q: Are the surgeons trained to accommodate specific body types and facial structures for diverse ethnicities?

A: Our surgeons are highly qualified and have performed procedures on patients of many different ethnicities. We are very familiar with multi-cultural features and are sensitive to the patient's appearance and desired outcome. On the contrary, we generally recommend changes that are compatible with your existing features.

Q: How expensive is my surgery?

A: Prices of surgery vary depending on the surgery’s complexity and methodology. Financing programs are available for any procedure. Some medical procedures are covered by your health insurance, so be sure to inquire with your coverage plan first.
