With a broad array of training in general, plastics, and hand surgery, Dr. Omar Ahmed specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive procedures with a distinct expertise in all aspects of hand surgery including complex secondary reconstruction and trauma.
Originally from Orange County, he attended UCLA for his undergraduate degree in Physiological Sciences before pursuing medical studies at the Baqai Medical College in Pakistan where he finished in the top 5% of his graduating class. Returning to the states for residency, Dr. Ahmed completed the general surgery program at Texas Tech before continuing his postgraduate training at the prestigious Kleinert Institute where he completed their fellowship in hand and microvascular surgery.
With an interest in expanding the breadth of his practice, he culminated his education at the Medical College of Georgia in plastic and reconstructive surgery before becoming a member of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, with additional board certification in surgery of the hand.
A California native, Dr. Ahmed combines a relaxed demeanor with a straightforward and comprehensive approach to patient care, emphasizing the physician-patient partnership that is required to achieve the absolute best results for any procedure. His hand patients consistently make outstanding recoveries due to both his meticulous surgical technique and persistence with follow-ups and occupational therapy. It is this same methodical approach that has translated to his tremendous prowess with plastic surgery procedures of all kinds.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Ahmed is on the teaching staff at Huntington Memorial Hospital where he instructs residents on the plastic surgery service. Additionally, he runs the Wound Care Clinic at Intercommunity Hospital in Covina where he sees uninsured and medically underserved patients.
